Hello, Pichondria community!

We are beyond excited to share some fantastic news with you!
After months of hard work, dedication, and innovation, we are thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of our latest product: the Pichondria 5V 5A Converter Board, which a lot of you had expressed interest in while we were in our prototype stage. Thank you for your support and inputs. We will soon be launching the product both in India, and in major international market places, via platforms such as Tindie and our webstore eventually as well.

Pichondria USB-PD 2.0/3.0 to 5V 5A Converter Board

Powering Your Raspberry Pi Projects with Ease

At Pichondria, we understand the importance of reliable power sources for your DIY electronics projects. That’s why we’ve designed our 5V 5A Converter Board to provide a stable and efficient power supply, ensuring that your Raspberry Pi projects run smoothly and effectively, and are not restricted by the power options that you can have, which are easily available. We were much inspired by the communities on Reditt Reddit USB-C Hardware Community and RaspberryPi Community where active discussions were seen, which encouraged us to make such a project.

Addressing a Common Challenge

One of the common challenges faced by Raspberry Pi 5 users is the need for a consistent and robust power supply. The Raspberry Pi 5 requires a reliable 5V 5A power source, which many standard USB-PD adapters fail to provide. Most adapters simply don’t deliver the necessary amperage, leading to performance issues and potential damage to your projects. This has been a significant hurdle for many users, making it difficult to fully utilize their Raspberry Pi 5’s capabilities. While most users have to be restricted to the 5V 5A 27W official adapter, there aren’t many available options. Most adapters have a 5V 3A output, which sometimes makes it hard for the Pi 5 to boot.

While most of us have existing adapters which can give 25W or better, they usually do not give out 5A at 5V, which makes it very difficult to use for the RPi5. We felt the need to enable users to use their existing power sources to power the RPi5, than just rely on a new adapter or power source.

What did we make ?

We made a board, which can take in USB-PD 2.0/3.0 USB-C adapters or Li-ion 6V-20V cells or normal DC adapters (6V-20V) and then convert it into 5V 5A USB-C power for RaspberryPi 5. It means, you now have the liberty to use your existing adapter, or any normal adapter which can give out 25W or better, to power the Raspberry Pi 5. You could also use Li-ion cells, DC adapters, Lead acid batteries, Solar panels or any similar power sources that you can think of. You could use existing adapters which you have, and which are cheaper and easily available to use, and not just stick with a few expensive manufacturers or options.

Key Features to Look Forward To

Our converter board comes packed with features that make it a must-have:

  • USB-C input and USB-C output ports: USB-C is the new standard for higher power sources, so yes!
  • Soldering pad input and output: If you need to use any other power source or use wires from the output for better voltage availability.
  • USB-PD 2.0/3.0 Compatibility: Our converter board supports the latest USB Power Delivery standards, offering maximum versatility and ensuring it can power a wide range of devices. Reuse your existing USB-PD adapters to power your Raspberry Pi projects without needing to purchase new adapters.
  • High Output: With a stable 5V at 5A output, you can be confident that your projects will have the power they need to perform at their best.
  • Versatile Power Options: In addition to USB-PD adapters, our converter board can also be powered using Li-ion cells or DC adapters, providing you with multiple power options for your convenience.
